Working on educational programs and promoting education in this regard is a priority of the Georgian University. One of the successful program is the 60-credit teacher training program, which has been successfully implemented for several years. A 300-credit integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s teacher training program in several subject areas has recently been developed. In this interview the head of the program, Prof. Zurab Beria, talks about educational programs.
Georgian University has prepared a one-year 60-credit teacher training program for Bachelor’s and Master’s students who want to teach and pass a teacher exam in a relevant subject, teaching general pedagogy and subject methodology, as well as school internships. This program was so successful that it made sense to make a larger 300-credit program.
The full name of the program is - Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Teacher Training Program and duration of which is 5 years. Upon completion of this program the student is awarded the degree of Master of Education; The status of a senior teacher in one or more subject areas, in the case of our university, it is history-geography-citizenship or Georgian language and Literature-English-Georgian as a second language. We have signed memoranda of cooperation with more than 100 public and private schools in Georgia within the framework of the 60-credit program. The direction of education is one of the priority directions for our university, there is great support from the university administration and we have quite ambitious plans.
