On April 14, 2025, a student conference was held at St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University, initiated by students of the Faculty of Philology. The event focused on the constitutional status of the Georgian language and the protection of state linguistic rights.

The conference featured a presentation by Professor Manana Tabidze titled: “The Importance of the State Status of the Georgian Language.” The speech highlighted the significance of legal protection of the language as a foundation of national identity.

The keynote presentation was delivered by fourth-year student Lika Babajanishvili, who gave the audience an in-depth account of the events surrounding the April 14, 1978 protest movement. Her presentation reviewed the historical context of the demonstrations, the role of civic mobilization, and the unity of society. She emphasized that this date holds not only memorial significance but also has a lasting influence on current state processes.

During the conference, students discussed key issues related to the effective realization of the state functions of the Georgian language, challenges posed by globalization, and the need for a coherent national ideological strategy in this context.
