Public Lecture at SANGU: Assistive Technologies – A Path to Greater Independence

On June 7, 2025, St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University hosted a public lecture titled “Assistive Technologies – A Path to Greater Independence.”

The lecture was delivered by Ms. Mariam Gelashvili, a specialist in modern technologies, founder of “Consort Georgia,” and invited lecturer at SANGU.

The speaker introduced attendees to modern assistive technologies designed to support communication and access to computer systems for individuals with disabilities. The lecture discussed how such technologies assist those facing difficulties with self-expression, interaction with digital tools, and environmental control.

It was emphasized that assistive technologies are internationally recognized as powerful tools for empowering persons with disabilities, especially in education, employment, and social inclusion.

The event combined theoretical discussion with practical demonstration. Participants had the opportunity to explore specific technological solutions and engage in conversations about their application in the context of Georgian education.

The lecture was intended for special education teachers, subject teachers, speech therapists, parents, students, and anyone interested in inclusive education and modern assistive solutions.
