Public Lecture Series at SANGU - How Does the European Union Work?

On April 20, 21, and 22, 2026, at 11:00, St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University will host a public lecture series by Professor Roman Strasser titled “How Does the European Union Work?”

Professor Roman Strasser is originally from Luxembourg and has been working for more than 37 years at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, within the Secretariat of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) Group. Over the years, he has held positions such as political advisor, Head of the Human Resources Division, and Head of the Intercultural and Religious Dialogue Unit. He is also the first Secretary General of the European Parliament - Georgia Friendship Group.

Lecture topics:

  • April 20 - The creation and development of the European Union from the 1950s to the present day, and the functioning of European institutions and bodies
  • April 21 - The specific features of the work of the European Parliament
  • April 22 - The process of developing European legislation, the role of the European Union in citizens’ lives, the challenges facing the EU by the end of 2026, and Georgia’s European and transatlantic future

Language of the lectures: English
Duration: 2 hours each session
