For SANGU students, the learning process extended beyond the classroom and moved into a real historical environment. On April 16, 2026, at the initiative of Associate Professor Nino Shiolashvili, a field lecture was organized for history students.
The field lecture aimed to immerse students in the spiritual, cultural, and natural heritage of Tbilisi. The day began at Anchiskhati, where students explored the history and architecture of the 6th-century basilica. The group then moved to Sioni Cathedral, where students had the opportunity to honor His Holiness Ilia II and reflect on his significant contribution to the nation and the Church.
The educational experience continued at Jvaris Mama Church, where students were particularly interested in observing unique frescoes and learning about the centuries-old history connecting Old Tbilisi with the holy sites of Jerusalem.
The field lecture concluded in a natural setting. The final part of the educational tour took place in the Tbilisi Botanical Garden. After visiting historical monuments, students moved into a natural environment where they explored the garden’s diverse flora, waterfall, and historic bridges. It was an excellent opportunity to reflect on the knowledge gained.
