Students Participated in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Project “Planting Democracy”

From June 2 to 9, 2026, SANGU students, together with Ketevan Khurtsilava, Co-Head of the Bachelor’s Programme in Law, participated in the Erasmus+ youth exchange project “Planting Democracy” in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.

The project aimed to strengthen democratic values, active citizenship, and civic engagement among young people. Participants from Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Armenia, and Poland discussed democracy, European values, civic responsibility, and contemporary social challenges through non-formal education methods.

Within the framework of the project, participants took part in debates, discussions, thematic workshops, simulation activities, and intercultural events. These activities enabled them to deepen their understanding of democratic processes, develop critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, and gain practical experience in international cooperation.

One of the important components of the programme was learning about the cultures and traditions of the participating countries, which contributed to intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. Participants also presented their organizations and discussed effective mechanisms for increasing youth engagement and supporting democratic processes.

The SANGU participants were students Nini Jikia, Marta Lomashvili, Luka Bezhashvili, Irakli Saralidze, and Giorgi Pirtskhalava, as well as Ketevan Khurtsilava, Co-Head of the Bachelor’s Programme in Law.

Participation in the international project gave the students an opportunity to expand their professional and personal experience, establish new international contacts, and acquire knowledge that will support their future engagement in active citizenship and civic participation.
