On June 15, St. Andrew’s Georgian University hosted another event within the framework of the educational programme “Georgian Identity”, organized by the Patriarchate of Georgia and the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.
As part of the event, a public lecture entitled “Georgian Cinema in the 21st Century” was delivered by Dr. Lela Ochiouri, Full Professor and Doctor of Art Studies.
The speaker discussed the major trends in the development of Georgian cinema in the 21st century, contemporary cinematic processes, the challenges facing Georgian filmmaking, and its place and significance in the international cultural space.
The lecture also addressed the thematic and artistic characteristics of contemporary Georgian cinema, the creative work of young directors, and the role of cinema in presenting and preserving national culture and identity.
The event was conducted in an interactive format, allowing participants to engage in discussion and ask questions related to the current development of Georgian cinema.
The educational programme “Georgian Identity” aims to deepen knowledge of Georgia’s cultural, historical, and spiritual heritage and to encourage active public engagement in discussions of these topics.
